Join in the Fun!

Experience real small-town hospitality. Welcome winter and fling in spring. Raise a pint with the locals. Slow dance with your best guy or gal. Shake your groove thing on the dance floor. Pull up a lawn chair and cheer on your favourite ball team. Whether you’re competing in our annual Blue River Blues Slo-pitch Tournament or taking part in any of our six annual community dances, you’re invited to come meet the locals and join in the fun!

Community Dances

Community dances are the heart of the social scene in Blue River, where having a good time is made all the better by fundraising for a good cause. Valentines, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring Fling, Welcome to Winter or New Year’s Eve – are just a few of the reasons we like to throw a party. The Blue River Community Hall or the local chapter of the Royal Canadian Legion play host to the community dances, each held to fundraise for a variety of local causes.

Blue River Blues Slo-pitch Tournament

Bring your lawn chair and plenty of sunscreen to cheer the Blue River Blues Slo-pitch Tournament. The pitcher’s mound at the Blue River Community Park is where the fastest arms from Prince George to Timothy Lake and points in between compete for the title of Slo-pitch champion every August Long Weekend.

Take in all the action on the field, then cool off with a dip in Eleanor Lake, explore our trails, quadding, hiking or mountain biking, or experience the River Safari eco tour, searching for bears, moose and abundant bird-life. One thing is certain, you may come to play ball, but after a weekend of playing in our mountain backyard, you’ll leave having had a ball!
